Descendants of hematopoietic progenitor cells that were genetically engineered to express apolipoprotein AI (apoAI) counter the accumulation of cholesterol on artery walls, according to a study in mice by researchers from Vanderbilt University reported in the August issue of Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology.
