Hypertension a Major Treatable Risk Factor for Lacunar Infarcts at Midlife

In a study of 477 community-dwelling adults their 60s, close to 10% developed asymptomatic lacunar infarcts. The prospective research conducted in Australia, and reported in the July 28 issue of Neurology, also reveals that high systolic blood pressure appears to be the most significant treatable risk factor.
